Short psychological self-checks

Self-checks based on two short, widely used and scientifically developed scales. Each takes about 2 minutes, and your answers never leave your browser.

  • Validated scales

What are these for?

Short screening scales help you notice how strong your symptoms have been over the last two weeks. They give a rough answer to "is this much normal?" and can be a starting point for deciding whether it is time to talk to someone.

They do not diagnose. The same score can mean very different things for two people; your circumstances, physical health and history can only be considered together in a conversation.

Scoring happens entirely in your browser. Your answers are not sent anywhere and are not stored in cookies or browser storage.

If you are not safe right now

If you are having thoughts of harming yourself, you are not alone and help is available right now. In Turkey call 112 or go to the nearest emergency department. Elsewhere, call your local emergency number: 112 in most EU countries and Switzerland, 999 or 112 in the UK, 911 in the US and Canada (crisis line 988), 000 in Australia, 999 in the UAE and Qatar. Letting someone you trust know how you feel right now is also a good step.

Frequently asked questions

Can these self-checks diagnose me?

No. The PHQ-9 and GAD-7 are screening scales. They indicate how strong symptoms are, but a diagnosis needs a full assessment with a professional.

Are my answers saved?

No. Scoring happens in your browser; nothing is sent or stored.

What should I do if my score is high?

Consider talking to a mental health professional. If you have thoughts of harming yourself, call your local emergency number straight away.
