Psychodynamic (psychoanalytically informed) therapy

An approach that explores how past experiences, relationship patterns and feelings outside our awareness shape the present.

What is psychodynamic therapy?

Psychodynamic therapy is an approach informed by psychoanalytic theory. It considers that the difficulties we face today may be connected to past experiences, early relationships, and feelings and wishes we are not always aware of.

The aim is to understand recurring patterns in relationships and emotions, explore where they come from together, and so build a freer relationship with yourself and others.

How do sessions work?

Psychodynamic sessions are less structured. They offer a space where you can speak freely about what comes to mind, your feelings, dreams and relationships. The therapeutic relationship itself is an important part of the process.

This is usually a longer term way of working, with regular sessions.

Who may it suit?

It may suit people who want to understand themselves more deeply around recurring relationship difficulties, self worth, personality patterns, grief and long held emotional burdens.

Every process is personal. Therapy does not guarantee a specific outcome, but it offers a safe space for change.
